Owltree Eco-Educational Field Trips

~Facilitator:  Wendy McDonnell   BA, BEd

BOOK NOW for September!  Check availability calendar

Children need to develop empathy for their LOCAL environment.  They want to feel comfortable with all living things around them and need to nurture their naturalist intelligence through exploration and discovery.   BC Ministry of Education’s Prescribed Learning Outcomes can easily be met out of doors.  For 1 ½ – 2 hours, I will take a class on an outdoor experience close to your school using the curriculum objectives as a guide.   Any place from the schoolyard to a nearby forested, gardened or watery land, I will bring an age appropriate animated, fun, hands-on lesson to you.

**Lessons will meet Prescribed Learning Outcomes for your age group and subject area & will include an indoor & outdoor component depending on weather.

Lessons Available:  (will create lesson to complement your theme if requested)

Children who experience healthy food up close will make better food choices while growing up.  All field trips will include a small organic snack to help seal the connection between healthy land and healthy food.

**Field trip cost is $7.50 per child.  Cost includes follow-up handouts, fully detailed lesson plan for the teacher, and a small organic snack for the class

Field trips are an essential part of a child’s education, but can often be a hassle for parents and teachers. Gas, insurance, drivers and time are all issues that often prevent teachers from venturing outside of the classroom.

Between the ages of 3-7, children develop empathy for their LOCAL environment. They want to feel comfortable with all living things around them and need to nurture their naturalist intelligence through exploration and discovery. For 1 ½ – 2 hours, I will take a class on an outdoor experience close to your school. Any place from the schoolyard to a nearby forested, gardened or watery land, I will bring an animated, fun, hands-on lesson to you.
